The Client

Morland, part of Newmor Group Ltd, has been operating since 1972 and has established itself as a major UK manufacturer of pre-finished fit out products. They produce interior panels, profiles and doors. Typically their customers are fitting-out in a factory and their focus is to keep their production lines running.

After achieving success with the previous Magento 1 website that we developed many years ago, they wanted to take the ecommerce side of their business to the next level and replace their now old and tired shop. They wished to use the latest technology to easily enable customers to view the vast range of products they can supply and make it quicker and easier to order samples and place orders. Having had success and seen the power of Magento 1 they wanted to move to Magento 2 before Magento 1’s end of life.

We worked closely with the client’s head of marketing to specify the features and goals they wanted to meet for their new ecommerce store. On this particular project we worked in an agile method, meeting regularly with the customer and making enhancements to design and features as the project progressed. Due to the thousands of product variants they offer it was imperative to migrate all data from Magento 1 to Magento 2 which we successfully achieved through writing many migration scripts. This saved hundreds of hours of work for the client.

We developed a powerful search and filter system to enable quick and accurate search results and configured a one step checkout which vastly reduces abandoned baskets. The payment gateway of choice on this project was Sage Pay. We ensured the website was GDPR compliant and implemented a sophisticated sample ordering system, vat switcher, integrated live chat, newsletter signup and many social sharing features.

The website was launched and hosted on powerful servers that our in-house server experts setup, we tweaked configurations until we achieved average page load speeds exceeding industry standards for Magento 2.
