Improving waste removal efficiency with a custom software mobile app

Reconomy is the UK’s market-leading provider of technology-enabled outsourced recycling and resource management services. From their offices in Telford, Shropshire they co-ordinate in excess of 100,000 waste movements every month and annually manage over 3 million tonnes of waste.

As part of their drive for digitalisation, Reconomy wanted an easier way for customers to request waste movements at any time, without the need for a phone call or email. SiteBuddy needs to allow customers to exchange, off-hire or reorder skips or borrow containers at a touch of a button. The app would be the first of its kind, it needed to be easy to use so it would be adopted throughout the industry.

Our Solution

We built a mobile app that allowed customers to request skip movements using Cordova and delivered both Android and iOS versions with the option to easily create a Windows version in the future if there was a demand for it.

The app not only allowed skip movement requests but also showed the customer a list of exactly what they have on each of their sites at any specific time.

Integrated into both Salesforce and also the main Reconomy Portal system which we maintain. It’s the first of its kind for the industry so is a real innovation for the sector, moving the industry forward.
