Reconomy is the UK’s market-leading provider of technology-enabled outsourced recycling and resource management services. From their offices in Telford, Shropshire they co-ordinate in excess of 100,000 waste movements every month and annually manage over 3 million tonnes of waste.

Brief

Reconomy had an existing bespoke PHP portal platform that their current third party developer was no longer able to support due to other business commitments. Reconomy went out to find an alternative development company who could support the existing system and make future enhancements.

Solution

This was an unusual situation as companies change developers due to being unhappy with the service they receive, but this was not the case this time as Reconomy’s existing developer was involved in the selection of the new company to take over their work. As part of the selection process, the previous PHP developers came into the gloversure office and interviewed our team, alongside other companies and gave the feedback to Reconomy- ultimately deciding to recommend ourselves. This all happened back in 2015, and we still support the client today.

We have a dedicated email set up for their support requests and have a team of developers who are familiar with their platform, enabling us the ability to react quickly to any support request. This is no small system, it’s an enterprise-level platform and the hub of their business, making it is imperative that this system remains live 24/7. Over the years of working with Reconomy we have developed APIs to enable third-party platforms to communication with the system, as well as a number of mobile apps that improve their customers’ user experience. The system is hosted on AWS and our server experts maintain the whole hosting platform.
