Tucked away in the small welsh community of Talybont, Ceredigion is a picturesque rural barn conversion called Yr Hen Ty Coets. With a history in is roots, the property name translates to “The Old Coach House”. Talybont is a stunning coastal village just shy of 5 miles away from Borth beach. Our client’s beautifully restored 4-bedroom cottage sleeps up to 7 guests. A spacious, light and comfortable space perfect to discover the stunning Mid-Wales landscape, whilst enjoying the homely comfort of their property.
Without a website to showcase everything they have to offer, Yr Hen Ty Coets approached us in need of both branding and a website. Their fresh image and cottage web design encapsulates the slow way of life that permeates Talybont, whilst paying respects to the property’s history. Effectively upselling their property and encouraging users to take action.Visit Website
When embarking on this project we soon discovered our client was proud of their property’s heritage and history. Paying homage to the Cottage’s roots we crafted an old carriage-inspired logo. Our design team encompassed classic logo styles with a modern twist. Curating an on-brand logo that looks historic, tasteful and upmarket. To match the ‘traditional’ aesthetic of the logo we used an old-handwritten script font to display the Cottage’s name. In turn, crafting a logo our client strongly resonates with.
Thereafter, we felt the logo stood out boldly against a deep, navy blue colour. It’s a dark, rich, blue magenta that further evokes a sense of quality and heritage. Therefore resulting in the brand’s blue and white colour scheme. The colours were carefully balanced across the cottage web design, ensuring that we optimised white space to enhance readability.
Animation is a fun, engaging way to capture the attention of audiences. To bring life to Yr Hen Ty Coets website, we animated photo’s with a sleek ‘fade in’ as users scroll down the page. Moreover, to draw attention to call-to-actions, we implemented a ‘fine line’ animation. Smoothly underlining CTA’s such as ‘Find Out More’ and ‘Book Now’ as users hover over them. Subtly encouraging users to click on it.
The Yr Hen Ty Coets website effectively showcases their property in a range of modern, engaging layouts. For example, on their homepage, we utilised an oval image layout. The image rests over a larger rectangle image to create a chic, modern appeal. As well as this, we utilised full-width images as a means of creating content blocks, where text can be added over the top. The purposeful range in image layouts helps to keep users engaged, whilst keeping consistent on-brand styling.
Additionally, thanks to the effective Modula gallery plugin, Yr Hen Ty Coets’ gallery page allows users to enlarge property images and take a closer look.
Our client’s fresh new website encompasses the power of white space. With large bold headers and spacious image layouts, the content blocks draw the user’s attention to what’s important. Keeping text to a minimum and enhancing the visual appeal.
Furthermore, website users can easily navigate across the website using the hamburger menu on the right.
On a dedicated ‘Contact/Book Your Stay’ page, users can be redirected to their booking avenue. Or if they have any queries they can simply fill out the contact form below. Additionally, we embedded a ‘map’ below this to help guests access the exact location of the property.
We then used the logo to give the website more texture and a strengthened identity. Adding large light-grey logo visuals behind text and images. These visual elements work together to produce a unified brand aesthetic that is stylish and modern. Furthermore, enhancing our client’s image as a high-class service provider and luxury property owner.
