Getting to know us…
With a team that continues to expand, we thought we'd sit down with our team and find out what makes them tick. Today we sat down with one our designers, Charlotte.
What’s your role at gloversure?
I’m Charlotte and I’m one of the designers here at gloversure. From creating website designs and bespoke branding concepts to writing content and crafting visuals for our social media feed, no two days are the same for me. It’s a major aspect of my job that I love.

How did you end up here?
After graduating with a Graphic Design BA degree from Oxford Brookes in the midst of lockdown, I knew I wanted to pursue a career in the creative/digital industry. So I was lucky enough to secure a 6 month internship in UX Design at a technology company in Oxfordshire.
Having been based in Wiltshire almost all of my life, I knew I wanted a fresh start and a new challenge. The experience I gained in my internship drove me to apply for the position of Designer at gloversure. I was offered the position and a week later I was house hunting in Mid Wales. I've been at gloversure for over three years now and taking the leap was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.

A surprising fact about yourself?
I’m a black belt in Tae Kwon Do (which I haven’t had to use yet!).

What's your favourite part of working at gloversure?
For me it’s a 50/50 split between the variety of different projects that come my way and the team I work with. The office is genuinely a very positive place to work in and I feel motivated to push the standard of my work all the time. Having a team that’s so easy to communicate with makes collaboration fun as well.

When you’re not in the office, what are you up to?
I like to keep busy, so my evenings and weekends consist of spending time with my friends, Pilates, walks, and reading. I'm also attempting to teach myself electric guitar which is definitely a work in progress.

What makes a good web design in your opinion?
Less is more! Having white space on a web design isn’t a bad thing, it looks clean and modern and creates a much more enjoyable navigation experience for users. Ensuring basic accessibility criteria is key too, meaning users with additional needs are able to navigate with ease.

What are you listening to or reading at the moment?
I’m always listening to something new or sticking a playlist on in the car, no two days are the same! I’ve also got a whole pile of books waiting to be read. At the moment I’m making my way through Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy.
