GloverSure, web and mobile app design and development company, built a £2,000 website for the school for free after it was selected as the lucky winner of a Facebook competition. Facebookers from Welshpool and surrounding areas were invited to nominate a school, community or charity group to receive a new website and a winner was randomly chosen.
Richard Glover-Davies from GloverSure said he ran the competition because he wanted to give something back to the community he grew up in and to celebrate the company's 12 year anniversary.
“Living and working in this area, I see so much great community stuff going on, and there are so many excellent schools and charities, and I wanted to do something to help, so I decided to run the Facebook competition and let people suggest the cause they thought was most deserving."
“There were lots of strong contenders for the prize, so to make sure it was fair we used a random name selector to select the winner. The winner was Sioned Best, who had nominated Llanfyllin High School."
“It was great working with staff at Llanfyllin High School to design and build the new website. I was a Llanfyllin pupil myself, so it’s a school close to my heart and one that I have enjoyed helping through this project.”
Llanfyllin High School were overjoyed when they discovered that they had won the new website. Llyr Thomas, Acting Headteacher commented "we are very grateful to Sioned Best for the nomination and to Richard Glover-Davies and GloverSure for the website. It has been a pleasure working with the team who have, through patience and hard work, designed a professional, modern and efficient website which the school can be very proud of. Diolch yn fawr iawn".
